Explore the Croatian coast between nature, relaxation and sport
T
he Kornati Islands offer not only relaxation, but also many fun activities such as swimming, diving and snorkelling, trekking, sport fishing and wildlife and bird watching. Sport is combined with cultural events, such as the Tarac festival held on the first Sunday in June, or the Kornati Cup, a traditional regatta of sailing boats that kicks off the tourist season and takes place in April.
There is no best time to visit Kornati islands, as they are accessible all year round and always offer fresh air, peace and quiet. Often tourism in this area of Croatia is called “Robinson tourism” precisely because of its wild and unspoiled nature, which invites you to reconnect with nature, animals and the intense sea.
Those who undertake excursions independently must know that some areas within the National Park are under special protection and cannot be visited without a specific permit. It is therefore advisable to follow the clearly marked paths and to read up in advance. Scuba diving and sport fishing require licenses, which can be obtained at the Kornati National Park office in Murter. Even for those who dive, there are specific rules to be respected to protect the place and the marine fauna that makes this place so special.
